Shoreland Stewardship 101: Protecting Michigan's Inland Lakes

Join Huron Pines and the Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership (MNSP) to discover how lake-friendly shoreline practices can protect water quality, support fish and wildlife habitat, and create beautiful, resilient properties.

Whether you live on Tawas Lake or any other inland lake in Michigan, this virtual workshop will cover essential shallow lake ecology and practical best management practices for property owners. Learn how natural landscaping and erosion control techniques keep our lakes clean and healthy for generations to come.

Through the Michigan Shoreland Stewards Program, participants gain access to education, resources, and a free online survey to evaluate current management practices and identify improvements. Permanent and seasonal homeowners, as well as municipalities, are welcome to participate.

Walk away with actionable strategies to be a better steward of your shoreline and your lake!

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. It is a priority for Huron Pines to ensure that our communications and programming are available and accessible to everyone. Please contact maddie@huronpines.org if you have any questions about accessibility or believe barriers remain.

We recognize that accessibility is not always possible in every area of our work. Our efforts are ongoing. Through a commitment to continued learning and understanding, we will strengthen our awareness of the barriers and inequities that exist at the individual and community levels, in order to advance more equitable opportunities to experience the outdoors in our region.
