Jack Pine Research Symposium

  • University of Michigan Biological Station 9133 Biological Road Pellston, MI 49769 United States (map)

Join researchers, natural resource managers and educators for a collaborative symposium focused on advancing science-based management of jack pine ecosystems in Northern Michigan. This two-day event brings together experts from across disciplines to share cutting-edge research, discuss management strategies, and develop cooperative approaches to jack pine habitat conservation.

Our Objectives

  1. Assess and Share Knowledge: Bring together researchers and practitioners across all jack pine-adjacent fields to evaluate current research, share knowledge, and identify relevant management-focused research questions.

  2. Identify Cooperative Approaches: Outline strategies for addressing these questions, including research methodologies, roles, and funding opportunities.

  3. Build Community: Develop a shared understanding of individual interests, emphasizing the mutual needs of the jack pine research and management community.

What to Expect

This event will feature management-relevant presentations from key researchers and candid conversations designed to facilitate knowledge sharing, exchange perspectives, address questions, and chart the future of jack pine research and management. We hope participants find the symposium informative, useful and enjoyable, providing an opportunity to connect with new and familiar faces.
