Halloween at Hubbard Lake

  • Hubbard Lake Nature Preserve 720 Holiday Inn Rd Hubbard Lake, MI 49747 (map)

Gather 'round the bonfire for a spook-tacular evening at Hubbard Lake Nature Preserve! This family-friendly, open-house style event is appropriate for all ages and invites you to hang out, warm up by the fire, and grab some Halloween treats — no tricks required.

For those brave enough to venture into the woods, join one of our guided hikes at 5pm or 6pm. The same approximately 30-minute hike will be offered at both times, beginning at the trailhead at the back of the parking lot. The less-than-half-mile route is relatively flat with one small, gradual incline and will include three stops to explore the preserve's different habitat types. Along the way, you might just cross paths with a few creepy critters, ghoulish insects and witchy plants lurking in the shadows. Learn what makes these "spooky" species tick and how you can help keep their habitats healthy long after Halloween.

Costumes encouraged, snacks and drinks provided. Stop by anytime during the event to enjoy the bonfire and refreshments, or plan your visit around one of the guided hikes. In case of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. It is a priority for Huron Pines to ensure that our communications and programming are available and accessible to everyone. Please contact amanda@huronpines.org if you have any questions about accessibility or believe barriers remain.

We recognize that accessibility is not always possible in every area of our work. Our efforts are ongoing. Through a commitment to continued learning and understanding, we will strengthen our awareness of the barriers and inequities that exist at the individual and community levels, in order to advance more equitable opportunities to experience the outdoors in our region.
