Watercolors at North Point

  • North Point Nature Preserve Alpena, MI (map)

Experience the beauty of North Point through art during this guided watercolor workshop led by local artist Laura Stockwell. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or have years of experience, this event is designed for all skill levels.

The afternoon will begin with a short guided walk (approximately 1/4 mile) along North Point's sandy and rocky shoreline, where you'll learn about the preserve's unique coastal habitat and why protecting places like this is so important. After the tour, Laura will provide watercolor instruction before you settle in to create your own artwork inspired by the surrounding landscape.

All art supplies will be provided, and no previous painting experience is necessary. This is a rain or shine event. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on natural terrain. Registration is required.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. It is a priority for Huron Pines to ensure that our communications and programming are available and accessible to everyone. Please contact amanda@huronpines.org if you have any questions about accessibility or believe barriers remain.

We recognize that accessibility is not always possible in every area of our work. Our efforts are ongoing. Through a commitment to continued learning and understanding, we will strengthen our awareness of the barriers and inequities that exist at the individual and community levels, in order to advance more equitable opportunities to experience the outdoors in our region.
