Tawas Lake Day

  • Tawas Lake Boat Launch (map)

Join us to celebrate and learn about Tawas Lake’s important ecological role. This year we will be doing a group paddle on Tawas Lake to explore the lake and learn about the diversity of aquatic plants that support this special ecosystem. We will be highlighting the important work happening to manage aquatic invasive species and preserve this unique shallow lake. We will have experts from a variety of organizations and agencies to answer questions and share about the work that is being done.

If you don’t have a kayak and life jacket of your own, we will have some to share as well as a pontoon boat for those who would prefer not to kayak. For those with mobility concerns, we will have a large boat for people to ride on. Refreshments will be provided.

This event is in collaboration with The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, City of East Tawas, Baldwin Township, Huron Pines, MSU Extension and EGLE.

Space is limited to 30 participants.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. It is a priority for Huron Pines to ensure that our communications and programming are available and accessible to everyone. Please contact maddie@huronpines.org if you have any questions about accessibility or believe barriers remain.

We recognize that accessibility is not always possible in every area of our work. Our efforts are ongoing. Through a commitment to continued learning and understanding, we will strengthen our awareness of the barriers and inequities that exist at the individual and community levels, in order to advance more equitable opportunities to experience the outdoors in our region.
