We created a list of the most important potential on‐the‐ground projects across the 11 county service area of Huron Pines. We’ve used locally‐developed watershed management plans to start the process, along with input from many of our resource conservation partners. We’re looking for additional sites that our stakeholders feel are “high priority” so that we can further evaluate them.

Once added to this list, we’ll start the process of doing conceptual designs, cost estimates, and fundraising so that we can implement the Best Management Practices that will help us all conserve the forests, lakes and streams of Northeast Michigan. In our role as an RC&D and in partnership with USDA‐Natural Resources Conservation Service, Huron Pines is uniquely positioned to complete much of the prep work to get this projects “shovel ready” in a low cost, timely manner.
Please note that while we welcome all input, we have not yet added sites in the Thunder Bay or Rifle watersheds, and are especially seeking ideas for those two river systems. Please send your prospective site info to our Program Assistant Jill Scarzo (jill@huronpines.org) and/or let us know if you’d like a copy of this list once it’s updated. Thank you.
