Huron Pines is pleased to recognize several leaders who have recently completed a five course series of workshops on protecting water resources.
Funded through the Americana Foundation and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Huron Pines was able to bring in some great resource speakers, including Chris Grobbel (Grobbel Environmental), Jill Ryan (Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Network and Fund) and Rich Bowman (The Nature Conservancy).
The programs were kept to a limited group of highly interested people. Those going through the entire program and receiving a certificate included Debra Abraham, Lindsay Abraham, Craig Cotterman, Linda Skodack, Ellen Louis, Diane Stutz, Chesley Summerville, and Patrica McLaren. A few local organizations had people attend one or two of the specialized sessions as well.
The five seminars covered a range of topics relevant to the Rifle-AuGres river watersheds, as well as all of Michigan. Farmland preservation, wetlands, hydrology, developing an educational program, fundraising, and communicating the conservation message to elected officials were all a part of the program.
In addition to course materials, attendees also received a CD toolkit that contains a wealth of resource conservation information.
Huron Pines would like to thank the presenters, the attendees, and the Americana Foundation and NRCS for making the program a success. Please contact Huron Pines if you have an interest in future educational opportunities. |
