Water in Motion at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary
March 23, 2009

On Saturday, March 21, Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary geared up for spring by hosting a "Water in Motion" Family Fun Day event. Partners for the event included the Fish and Wildlife Service, SeaGrant, Huron Pines AmeriCorps and the Alpena Youth Sailing Club.

Each group provided a display or activity, giving visitors a total of nine different ways to learn something about the water cycle here in the Great Lakes Basin.  A total of 122 people were at the museum that day and lots of fun was had by all.

Other upcoming events at the Marine Sanctuary include an evening lecture on Wednesday, March 25th on the development of passenger ships on the Great Lakes at 7:00 p.m.  The construction of a birch bark canoe will be continued March 27th and 28th from 10:00-4:00 and an evening lecture which will highlight a Weather Spotter Course will be held Tuesday March 31st at 7:00 p.m.
